Inschriach Nursery
Date Posted: 22.27hrs on Sun 8 Aug 10
After messing about in a boat on Loch Insch today we stopped in past Inschriach for some tea and cake. Sampled 4 different cakes and polished off a huge pot of tea. All incredible as always, though the Chocolate was probably the best.

Usual entertainment was in progress outside the window. A red squirrel, woodpecker and loads of wee birds all furiously eating peanuts!

Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

I can also highly recommend Inschriach Nursery. Regulars will also know that they have a loyalty card (no kidding) For every 9 cakes that you buy, you get the tenth for free. Not in the least ashamed to admit that I'm half way to my second free cake this summer (although maybe I should be!!).
If you have never been in there then you simply must give it a go......the best cream cakes in Strathspey, bar none.

eye popping smiley sounds like they'll need to rethink the economics of their loyalty scheme before much longer grinning smiley

a 3rd recommendation from me, great place, aint been in for a while. The peanut (with caramel, chocolate, cream etc!) cake being my favourite.

...and Barry?..."The peanut (with caramel, chocolate, cream etc!) cake being my favourite."

I assume you have to pay for the peanut cakes if you "sit in". tongue sticking out smiley

The Cake Hunters thread must stay....surely don't have to start another campaign...I've previous form with that....

Heads up: Inschriach Nursery re-opens for the season on 1 March...if you still haven't been then you simply must pay them a visit this year.

I for one do hope that the loyalty scheme is in operation again this year...seems like I spend as much time there as I do on the hill!!!

The owners of the Potting Shed Tearoom....at Inschriach nursery, have recently opened another outlet, on the main street in Kingussie.
Anyone who is in strict 'training' for the new season will now be able to exercise (their jaws) at 2 fantastic cake selling locations in Strathspey.
Note: the Inschriach branch is only open until 22 December after which it closes until March...better 'fill up' soon.

Kind regards

The Inschriach Potting Shed tearoom has had a 'makeover' during the winter.....nicely redecorated and new furniture too........most importantly, the cakes are every bit as good as ever.
...and yes, Olderalan paid them a visit just before they closed at Xmas and back again the first weekend in March when they re-opened for the season.

As an aside, the owner was telling me how he was many weeks ahead of normal with all things to do with the nursery 'thanks' to the exceptionally mild weather...we even bought some rockery plants in early March!

I am looking forward to many visits during this Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Kind regards
