How to Enter & Rules

Either send your photos to pix2009@winterhighland.info or upload them as attachments to this thread if the image size has been reduced to 150kb or less. Either way please stipulate the following:

Approx date or at least time of year photo was taken.
Location of Photo.
Description of the Photo.
Photographer.

Rules:

A maximum of four photos per person.

All photos must be sent to pix2009@winterhighland.info or uploaded to this thread, no exceptions.

Photos should ideally be landscape format, portrait photos maybe cropped to maximise display area as the calendar format will be for landscape photos and you should have originals of sufficiently high resolution for printing at Letter size (11 by 8 1/2 inches) which will result in photos that are quite a bit bigger than A5 but smaller than A4.

Photos may not have previously been used in the Winterhighland 2008 or 2009 calendar, previous entries which were not successful can be re-submitted though.

You must either be the photographer or have permission to submit the photo.

Selection of photos for the 2010 Calendar:

A panel will then look through the submitted photos and their content and will put forward a maximum of 12 photos to a public vote on this forum.

The top six photos from the vote will automatically go in the 2010 Winterhighland Calendar. Two photos will be "editor's picks" and the final four photos will be selected by the judging panel from the 'best of the rest' of the significant pool of photos from the 2008, 2009 and 2010 comps. There was many fantastic entries that couldn't all fit in the respective calendar and we think some of these deserve another shot at making the Calendar.

Entries closed at 10pm on Friday 28th August.

Here's to there being lots of snow to photograph for the 2011 Calendar! smiling smiley

Is it the usual A5 landscape dimensions that you're after?

The photos will be printed on letter size paper (11 by 8 inches) with the photo above the fold and calendar dates below the fold. The photos thus will be quite a bit bigger than A5, but less than A4 size.

Got a few more entries in, will get them up this afternoon. Also due to the number of photos so far, the deadline for entry is being brought forward to a week Friday (Friday 28th August) at 10pm. Final voting will take place the following week into early September.

So many great photos. smiling smiley

Got entries from a few more people this week since the last update to the photos above, currently processing them to get them ready to upload. Voting will take place early Sept, the original idea of 12 to go through to the vote with the top 6 in the calendar, 2 editors picks then a best of the rest from the last 3 years worth of photos was the plan, but with so many photos might increase the number going through to the vote.

some absolutely brilliant landscapes and some good action shots, dont like the posed pics so much apart from the #31 at glenshee which is awesome ( I remeber driving the A93 back from Glenshee with that beautifull red backdrop)

quality is getting better and better every year, may need to start taking my SLR with me from now on.

anyone wanting to post their pics on facebook at "winterhighland the back room" are more than welcome

Alan for voting will it be possible to use cooliris to view them all in one place?

Be nice to skiers...they have enough problems already
