As I understand it the A93 closure is from 9am till 4pm, if your going up to Glenshee for the day and are there pretty early and stay till the lifts closed it wont affect your day.

There were signs up at Glenshee around the cafe area 'No skis or boards on the building please'.

While I totally agree with this, can the management give everyone somewhere to put them? What about some racks to lean our gear on?

Even though there was loads of space in the middle of those two new racks, it wasn't stopping numpties leaning their planks & boards at the rack ends and all around the pillars at the weekend. There was stuff tumbling and clattering all around tongue sticking out smiley

Can anyone confirm if the A93 is actually closed between Blair and Perth? Planning on heading up tomorrow for a half day, so be on that road about 10:45.

Yesterday, I know Web_CT_Guru came from Perth to meet me in Blair.

I think he said it was only closed 9am-4pm. **Maybe he can confirm**?

But I did hear it said that the Perth-CouparAngus road is faster anyway. It certainly goes faster on a bike.

Cheers HTH.

I've never been the Perth-Cupar road (creature of habit), so I might give it a bash for something different.

Oops - make sure you goto Coupar Angus and not Cupar (Fife)!

The road is closed between 9am-4pm, but there are well placed diversion signs on route and in Coupar Angus.

I think this route is a wee bit longer, but not slower timewise,

If you're doing any touring around the glenshee area, the best bet is the garbh choire bowls. (This shot is from grabh choire no#1 today http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5057/5540783488_82f32d95ac_b.jpg), or if your looking for somthing a bit steeper check out S&M couloir [farm6.static.flickr.com] and banana couloir [farm6.static.flickr.com] in the ceanlochan glen. Invitation bowl and hesitation gully on creag leacach could be worth a look also.

Seasons over now making the conditions thread only really relevent to tourers.

Once the snow goes and the ground defrosts a bit we should see the new chairlift going in, a new top shed for the cairnwell chair (thats right another one) and yet more snow fencing as well as repairing last years.

On the other thread someone mentioned a rumoured second new lift. Although i think we'd all agree that lift replacement would be more appropriate.

Whatever, they have about £2m profit to play around with, lets see what they can do.

I'd take the £2m with a pinch of salt until the numbers are published. With skier days at somewhere between 100k and 120k, at say an average of £20 a head (allowing for youngsters, half-days, season tickets, reduced cost days, etc., that only gives a t/o of £2m to £2.4m on lift operations. They'd have to have sold a lot of bacon rolls and hired a lot of skis on top to make that sort of profit. And don't forget that even if it is £2m, the govt will want their 28% first.

Yes yes. But even a fraction of that sort of money would go a long way. No way will they spend probably even half of it, but they could comfortably invest £500k i imagine maybe more considering theyll have left overs from last year. My point is it should be another year for investment, 5 years ago that wasnt an option.
