Winterhighland iPhone App
Date Posted: 12.20hrs on Wed 5 Jan 11
Celebrate the New Year and treat yourself to the brand spanking new Winterhighland iPhone App which is now available.

[itunes.apple.com]

The Winterhighland App has been specifically designed to allow fast access to the latest offical reports and lift status even on very low bandwidth GPRS connections in remote areas.

Now for the geeky bit for anyone interested, the line below is two bytes:

at

That's how much data transfer the Winterhighland iPhone app uses to fetch the latest Glencoe lift Status from the server!

£1.19! You robbin bug*er! smiling smiley

Only kidding. Just bought it, looks brilliant. Will certainly make checking the conditions while in the car a lot easier (for the passenger obviously).

Webcam zooms in futuire releases? That would pretty much complete it I reckon, not that it isn't great at the minute.

Nice work.

Hi

Nice work, and can't really complain at the price.

Would be nice if it could show the webcam images too at some stage. Initially, these could just be added as links in each resorts page to the appropriate images such that the cams opened in the browser?

Also nice would be some kind of access to the forum. No point in re-inventing the wheel, but installing something like Tapatalk on the webserver so that the forum could be accessed by Tapatalk client (iOS and Android) would be nice, or a mobile friendly version of the forum (perhaps done as a webapp?) Maybe Tapatalk (or the other crowd, see app store) will license a single-forum version of their code for integration into a third parties' app thus providing seamless access to winterhighland forums from the winterhighland app?

Yep - we need an android app, as well as webcam images like the SkiScotland app.

Good first step though...

Webcams, weather and pix from the slopes should all be coming in future versions.

Maybe Android too... winking smiley

Bought! Nice one Alan.

I've got a shortcut to the forums on Safari saved on my phone too. Not as good as a native app, but not bad.

And the SkiScotland app for the webcams is also really useful.

Nice one, bought.

One initial comment - the phone number links don't seem to work for most of the centres. Nevis is OK, but the zero (or the '+44') needs to be removed for Cairngorm. For Glenshee, Lecht and Glencoe the link doesn't seem to do anything.

An update will be issued very soon to fix this. If anyone notices any other problems please post them here. smiling smiley
