...or it could explained the tangled mess of sign posts in the middle of the ski road roundabout! winking smiley

Around 4-6 inches of fresh indicated by the radar returns, carpark tended to agree and on Friday afternoon suddenly the wind switched off for a very pleasent few hours on the mountain.

Also if you've not already seen them, check out the Pix from Friday as well. A few inches of fresh with deeper windblown accumulations were transformational for the open terrain and the Fiacaill Traverse / Fiacaill was doable with some creative route selection to get some windpacked freshies.

Your pix suggest that they were taken on Sat. I wondered if this was the case or not.

Today,Sunday, the snow was lovely, easy to turn on fresh, and it snowed on and off throughout the day.
If you don't value your bases too much you can ski from the top of the M1 poma, but walking to just below the 'road crossover' of the M1 poma track and starting from there was the better option.

Good cover in the top bowl but too misty for photos

How busy do you think it will be this weekend? Planning to head up with a friend who's never skiied before. Guess it won't be too busy though due to lack of the main runs being open?

Skied the Carpark Run this afternoon on my newly serviced good skis, thought I'd got away with it until I had a disagreement with a Burnside cross-drain... eye rolling smiley

Strong to gale force SE wind coming over the Plateau, blowing what little loose snow there is up there down into the snowsport area. Gunbarrel slowly improving. Snow Cannon going on the middle corner of the Zig Zags.

There was snow blowing on southerly winds on Sunday, but it was a shame there was so little loose snow to blow around as the direction looked great for filling the Ciste Gulley and Gunbarrel
