Great day again over at Summit Gully a bit icy getting in but all good after that as the sun softened the snow slightly.

I was shocked how hard the snow had set up when we got off Braveheart for the traverse round totally different in Summit Gully.

There is now a Facebook page for the Back Corries join the community... smiling smiley [www.facebook.com]

Website says a lot of snow has been blown into the back, does that mean it will be epic tomorrow or mean that is likely they will close it due to avie risk?

I woild think the thaw freeze and then lots of wind blown powder may make this very unstable so SAIS is a must

Be nice to skiers...they have enough problems already

This photo was taken this morning in between the Snow showers which have been passing through most of the day.

Reports are that the Goose had caught 3-6 inch of fresh can you imagine how much the Back have caught with the strong Westerly's and now North Westerly.

Summit temps are at -7.5 so its going to be powder of the finest quality...

Avalanche will certainly be a big issue so take care.

Classic day at Nevis today with fresh tracks to be found in the Back Corries all day and that was without actually skiing in Coire Dubh other than passing through from Summit and Spikes back to base.

Uh oh:

will be a change in the classification of the runs in the Back Corries. Currently they are mostly marked as reds and blacks (which suggests they are just like normal pisted ski runs) but soon they will all become orange “itineraries” – a name used in the Alps

At last I can see fresh snow down to around 950m with the summit temp currently at -1.2 °C.

Strong South-Westerly winds are blowing in excess of 60mph so that's the backs getting some wind blown fresh and maybe a wee bit of drifting.

I have stopped looking at the weather forecasts in the last few days it driving me crazy...just going to watch the hills instead.smiling smiley
