Whats the chances of being open tomorrow? Plenty snow forecast overnight, but will the wind wind allow play is snow falls onto the up tracks?
Cant remember which wind direction is particularly bad for Glencoe uplift.

Has the snow fence that was shown as fallen over in one of your previous pics of Mugs Alley been re-erected yet? Might be handy to have it in snow catching mode this next few days smiling smiley

A82 looking very snowy just now, must be a good 10cm+ lying on Rannoch Moor so 20cm+ fresh on the hill? Combined with what's to come over the next 48hrs Glencoe should be loaded again very soon.

Some pics on the SAIS blog showing how much has fallen at car park level today.

Looks like Glencoe has definitely done best so far.

Good picture during a clearer spell from the Plateau Poma, uptrack well filled again. Looks like the gaps the waterfall made in the Canyon are filling back in too, all in all for the start of January Meall a' Bhuiridh looks pretty healthy snow wise.

Now just need the wind to sod off to let us out to play (and fix the webcams and weather statons!!).

Do you manage to get to glencoe much? From what I've read on here this is your website, I was wondering which is your local/ favourite resort ?

Go to the CairnGorm Mtn (Non Conditions Discussion) thread to find out the answer. You'll have to search through all 119 pages but the clues are in there somewhere.

Plan to go to the Coe tomorrow but am a bit concerned about the strength of the NWLy winds in the morning which look to be strong before dying down.

Are NWly winds a prob at the Coe for uplift? I would have thought the north side of the mountain gives pretty good shelter in a NWly but would like a second opinion please.

The topography of the mountain does provide a degree of shelter, the top and bottom of the Access Chair can be the vulnerable bits depending on exact direction, Creag Dhub can both shelter it but at certain angles cause a bit of funneling.

Given the lack of opportunties to get out and play I'd be minded to say go for it, but be prepared to be flexible and try to keep up to date with the latest info, just incase a change of plans are called for.

I've been driving up through Glencoe and out onto the moor thinking there is not a cats chance in hell of the Access being open with the wind howling and blowing the car about and it's been a flat calm ride up the chair!!

Iceboy,

Can't guarantee anything but North Westerleys are normally pretty good for us.
