Nippysweetie01: Was that you in the red camper outside the ticket office Sat night?
I had a front row seat up at the Shee Sat night watching the boy/girl racers. 6 Cars doughnutting it around the main car park! They then proceeded to attach a sledge to the back of one of the cars, put a man on it and then tow it around at high speed before retiring to do some sledging-proper on a slope!
I was oot touring on Sun. Pretty good all told, but quite a bit of snow-covered tuft skinning on the way up. Plan was Glas Maol, Cairn of Claise and Carn an Tuirc. Carn an Tuirc's west facing slopes looked pretty thin from Cairn of Claise. I would have been better off doing the route in reverse. The clag rolled in just after I got to Cairn of Claise, so I about-turned cause I fancied a do down the Glas Maol gully anyway.
Only hiking was about 20 metres to the east of Cairn of Claise since it was rocky at the top. Glas Maol gully was good, needs to snow on an easterly/southerly wind to fill in the gully properly. Stream was covered though! I skinned up the side of the gully in the Fionn Coire bowl to Meall Odhar, and then headed back down it again cause the snow was lovely. The gully was in excellent shape.
West slope of Glas Maol (direct to Meall Odhar) looked thin from a distance, but would have been easily-skiiable if I had gone clockwise.
