Yes the top of the Caenlochan was fun. Even fat gits like me were being taken off their feet near the top. It was Ok as long as you kept the skis (or board) pointing up slope ready for the landing. Did lead to occasional carnage though - hence the photos.

Good day though, with pretty good conditions on most of the runs. Shame about the cairnwell chair (frozen switch that they were having difficulty finding according to the lifty) not opening as the tiger was in pretty good nick. We did it once from the top after walking/heringbone up from the cairnwell tow and a couple of times traversing across inculding as our last run in fading light.

I got speaking to a gang who had done the Tiger a few times Sun AM. I believe I was mistaken for someone else with comments yelled down the slope along the lines of 'Oi, are you too tight to buy a lift pass?!' as I was skinning up!! There was the odd person on the Tiger on Saturday too. (I did buy a pass Saturday).

I bought a lift pass and left the skins* in the car (I'd also have had to move to my old touring skis which don't turn as easily as the Movements I was using). So we Herringboned up the steep section to the top of the tiger the first time and it was well worth it.

My view was that as I'd bought a lift pass i was going to get full value from it, and there was plenty to go at lift served without needing to get the skins out.

well who ever posted on facebook 6-9 inches of new snow, needs a new measuring tape and they need to stop lying to their wife.....lol

great conditions, all pistes were well groomed and fresh lines were available between the leewared slopes 2-4 inches by my reconing..lots of fun

hiked cairnwell to the top of the tiger...shame the chair needs repaired as run was awesome and smooth packed powder with stashes to play in...seen 2 other hiking the summit

after lunch did the sunnyside-caernlochan-corie fionn-tom deag-sunnyside circuit very good new snow made it even better than sunday...then my legs were gone so went home

damn this warm spell..it better leave behind a solid base for the rest of the season or I wont be happy.....I am happy for now so that is good

Be nice to skiers...they have enough problems already

I'll be up on Friday as the car will FINALLY be fixed. (I went up on the first day of the season, car blew up on way home, never got up since. sad smiley)

Anyway Im not too worried about the mild spell for Glenshee, As long as they keep the pistes nicely groomed it should be fine. Looks like people tomorrow will get the last of any decent off piste for a few weeks though as it will turn to concrete, if not dissappear altogether over the next few days until temps fall again and more snow arrives. But with a bit of luck there will be a perfect base for a big dump sometime in January.

Anyone know what the situations is on A) Glas Maol, B ) Cairnwell chair and C) the baddoch chair?

I hope the three blood wagons going past the bottom of the Claybokie at the moment on the webcam aren't 'for real'! Apart from that the webcams look fine atm.

Think that was probably the group I was in though I wasn't the one shouting at you!

We did the Tiger on Sunday, walked up from Cairnwell. It wasn't bad, a mix of drifted powder and some windswept stuff with a nice crust to catch you out when you broke through it winking smiley

Areas closest to webcam were actually thinest cover: claybokie & sunnyside slopes.

Cairnwell tbar runs blue & red (especially) plus the aosda/butcharts runs had all caught more snow due to wind direction. So I think it's better than seems on webcam. Outside the fences I expect the thaw to turn many hills back to patchy green again. But between the fences may survive till next snow showers.

Glenshee is lost nearly all snow now. Dont think they can open until further snow fall whenever that may be.

Snow-forecast.com is suggesting snow from Wednesday onwards to the weekend. Also looks like theres a chance for a big dump on Friday, certainly on the peaks there should be. But lower down it could fall as sleet/rain depending on temps. Call me optimistic but it looks like theres finally light at the end of the tunnel. smiling smiley
