also just wondering, any one know why on the glenshee website it says baddoch chairlift 2? the '2' being the question?
Is this a mistake or are they planning a second chair?

I noticed this too. Updating the system took them a few attemts and Im not sure how tricky it is to change something like that (given that its more complicated than it sounds)
But last week it was showing Sunnyside 2 as opening when it was actually meant to be the Baddoch. In other words, Glenshee hasnt properly grasped the World Wide Web. Never has, and probably never will smiling smiley

Why not stick a camera on the end of the Baddoch? It would look straight to the race track area

Just copying this across from this evening's Status Report, for info if anybody is planning to go up tomorrow...

"More snow today has significantly improved the runs. Cairnwell and the Butcharts Tows have good cover with fresh snow on a firm base. With the ongoing snow we hope to open up more of the ski-area tomorrow."

&

"We apologise for late reporting, and the lack of Web-Cam, which is due to Network fault."

Good news about the improved snow & possibly more runs opening. Hopefully the webcam comes back soon too.

Have hit the road, a dusting was enough persuasion. If anyone else is flying solo and wants to team up ill be in a brown jacket a black Neff with a yellow pom riding purple and blue Rossi scrpatch...

Well...

Snow was great, loads of fresh though more needed yet. Claybokie was open and skiing now pretty easy for intermediates to get to car park.

They are trying to get the staff in to open up over to Coire Fionn in the morning. However much of the west facing slopes (ie. Sunnyside & Meal Odhar) are still quite thin in places. The home run got groomed today though apparently the groomer's tiller was just lifting the snow so not sure how good that will be. Coire Fionn is apparently incredibly icy at the bottom. I think it will be touch and go in terms of snow conditions over yonder. Though with the exception of a few areas I think it should be good. Thom Dearg has good cover.

What was open was as good as the last report. Though a bit better as they have been freshened up with the new snow.

Had a bit of an accident on the race track, not sure what happened but tumbled quite far down the hillside with bits of equipment litering the slope. Done in my kneee. First wipeout of the season!

**Avalanche Warning**
There was a receny avalanche on the west facing slop of Glas Maol (the one that faces the cairnwell) and I beleive it was a collaped cornice though when I left on Sunday it was the ball bearing snow that was falling. Take Care out there!

All in all a pleasant afternoon.

DavaA, did I go up the Cairnwell T with you today by any chance?

Forgot to add that all the snow cleared from the car park was being dumped onto the dink dink.

Skied into Corrie Fionn today, not sure there is enough snow to open all the way accross. There is enough snow/Ice on Corrie Fionn. We did manage to ski the back passage all the way back, but snow was very thin in 2 places.

Tom Dearg run was in great shape today, so if they can get that opened it is well worth a ski, just not sure how they will get people accross to ski that area and back again. Perhaps they are planning to move alot of snow about this evening.

First post here, just after some advice. We have a trip planned for this weekend to Glenshee - 5 of us - 3 intermediates and 2 first time skiers

Were heading up from Manchester friday night and were hoping to have Saturday and Sunday on the snow - obviously its a long round trip - is it worth it?

A few days ago we officially called the trip off, but the snow reports have made us think again, the Glenshee webcam being down isnt helping our decision

We dont know whether to go up as planned or wait a few weeks to see if the snow conditions improve or not, advice most welcome!

I think you should go! Sounds like there's more terrain opening up, and for 3 intermediates and 2 beginners I would say there's plenty for you to have a good couple of days. As long as the overhead forecast insn't too dodgy. The webcam even when it is working doesn't show the best of glenshee at the moment. Go for it - you'll have a great time. Ski, drink and be merry.

Go! conditions are not likely to lessen from what they are now with the cold weather. If anything they might even improve. Lots of good runs should be open by then.

Currently there is plenty of beginenr to intermediate pistes open. The beginners area is in good shape. There is one red run as of yet. Though hopefully more to come shortly. No blacks open yet. On the Cairnwell side there are a few off piste lines that according to some who were up yesterday are pretty sweet.

Glenshee winter games will be on this weekend I beleive, so the hill should be buzzin.

We're all very friendly up here (apart from maybe the liftie whos usually on the Baddoch Chair). But please dont come up expecting blue sky & sunshine. This is Scotland. The weathers looking snowy but Ok over the weekend.

The two main ski schools are freshtracks & Cairnwell Mountain Sports (Gulabin Lodge). CMS I think is the only one based at the ski centre.

Come up with an open mind and Im sure you'll have a ball. Conditions are the best they have been for a while. And Glenshee will no doubt put on the best show they can.

Groomer visible in webcam zoom to Caenlochan. Encouraging sign. There will be a tipping point shortly where it goes from 10 to 20 available lifts.
