Just back from touring around Glas Maol today. And must say the skiing there was great following the red run line. The shoulder facing north into the valley had fresh snow on a good base. Certainly left there with big smiles. The down side is that accross the top inbetween the fences is rutted badly, legs got a good work out though. At the very bottom there is not enough snow to have the lift open, but if touring you can come back via the burn, well worth a trip out.

We skied back through the centre, the back passag was being groomed, as was Corrie Fionn, so it looks like they are planning to open more lifts. The Cluny runs were in great shape, so much so we had a cheecky ski down them. Well worth a ski when they open.

As for the person asking if its worth a trip this week end. If they can open all these lifts, then most certainly. Get there early and make the most of the day. There is not much snow, but what is their is in great shape, and the guys up there are pushing around alot of snow. Less then 2 rows of cars today, and 3 buses. No ques and great snow conditions. Where is everyone?

Some excellent skiing to be had on the Cairnwell Race track. Stayed on there all afternoon as it was complete and in such good nic.

Pistie was woking on the home run and i believe they are trying to open Corrie Fionn
tomorrow.

1st time on the New Baddoch chair and what a difference it makes. 20 yards from car straight up skiing instead of the walk to plastic makes such a difference. Nice views from above the burn, padded seats...........all we need now are roofs heaters and some nice Swedish Blonde for company.

Amazing day up there today. Corrie Fionn open in the afternoon and was great skiing. Caenlochan poma was open and that was great skiing down.

No one about, it felt like our own private mountain. People, if the weathers half as good as today, you really need to get out there and ski Glenshee. The conditions were just brilliant with great weather.

Sorry to not quite be snow related, but does anyone know where the best place to hire decent modern skis is on the road to Glenshee? I normally board but have decided I might be better on two planks tommorrow. Or should I just stick with one? Or should I be totally uncool and get the snowblades out?

Up from Dunblane via Blair. Quite keen to get something on the road for quickness as a bit of rushed day around school runs. Are GS ski hire busy around 10.30?

Anyone know if the Cairnwell Chair and Carn Aosda are dead for the season now?

Good day on Tuesday despite the hill looking more brown than white in lots of place. Good snow quality and Baddoch chair was fantastic!!!!!!!!!! Not surprised that over Sunnyside is open now – lots of snow had drifted. Hopefully Sunnyside Chair will open at weekend too. And maybe GM if there is more snow than rain!

Cammy, I think I saw your crash on Tuesday! About 3pm on bottom third of race piste heading towards skiers right. Saw two skiers heading down at a fair pace to say the least. Impressive somersault – particularly as you still seemed to have both skis and poles on at that point!

Haha Yeah sounds like me. Stupidly wearing a bobble hat & not wearing my helmet I keep getting reminded! Still feeling it, particularly in my neck & knees, not so good.

I dont think the Cairnwell chair has been signed off. Before the Baddoch opened they were using it for access at weekends. And its not really been busy enough to justify it since I dont think as the only run it really serves is the tiger. Which hasnt had allot of snow, and therefore demand, lately.

Carn Aosda Im surprised hasnt at least had the tow hangers put on. Then again its a really long T-bar and is probably a big job to do and when there was the snow to open it in december the team was probably distracted with other more high demand, more reliable lifts like Butcharts. The run down to Butcharts & the Carn Aosda run was completely bare a few days ago. And the runs it serves have been bare for most of the season. Shame as its one of my favourite lifts on that side of the road; serves allot of great terrain on & off piste when theres snow. It must serve one of the longest pisted runs at Glenshee thinking about it. I'll ask about it next time I have the chance.

I think lack of demand and snow are to blame basically.

cheers everyone for your advice (ie come to glenshee this weekend)

Just checking though with the weather forecast being a bit shaky would you still drive from manchester for the weekend? What is the likelihood of the access roads being closed?

Just want to make sure I will actually get to ski!!!

snow levels looks like being 300-500m base so most of the access road will be rained on, plough cope better with that scenario, wind can be a bugger for closing the road with drifting

beware Sunday, Glenshee is likely to be very busy, new snow, lift options, red a possibly black runs open, great park and ok weather......

...but for those still in doubt go to Glencoe, cause I hate queues

Be nice to skiers...they have enough problems already
