Just seen oldy photos on the GS website. Really interesting some of them. [ www.ski-glenshee.co.uk]
Going up tomorrow if my knee's not playing up too much. Will likely be riding solo unless with the ski school. If anyone wants to join the team I ski usually with a blue/white big bobble hat, black snowboarder jacket, blue snowbarder pants as seen in my dp. You'll probably also see me about with my big camera.

The snow conditions look really good, Wishing I was up there but me hoping it stays like this with more fresh snow for the next weekend when I am planning to go for a slide.

It was brilliant today! Best day of the season so far.
Really just Glas Maol, Meal Odhar and Carn Aosda are yet to open (more snow needed). Though with Meal Odhar poma being shut it meant massive bottle necks on the Beag & Cainlochan but once you got into Coire Fionn it was fine & dandy, both lifts were running so queus were disolved quickly.
Sunnyside chairlift opened about lunch time, and the Cairnwell, and therefor the tiger, was open when I came in at about 3.
Snow was lovely and soft generally though as the day progressed areas became scraped and icy. Still another big dump would be welcomed no end. But considering last weekend where it was just Cairnwell race tracks & Butcharts Id say it was a braw day.
The weather was bright, if cloudy. The sun & his mate Mr Blue sky came and went with the day and it tried to snow a few times.
Made the mistake of thinking it would be quiet so didnt get there until just after 10 only to be welcomed by a nearly full car park. So a long walk was required.
The new chair seemed to function quite well on its first busy day.
If the beag looks tedious as it did today. Then near the top of cluny there is a pisted bit that goes to Beag cafe. You'll need to walk up a hill the last wee bit but its a big time saver!
All in all, Good show from the Glenshee team!

Was way too busy, but suppose was to be expected being one of the few good days of the season (that fell on the weekend anyway).
Very happy for Glenshee they must have taken some serious cash today, but day was a bit of a washout to be honest.
The biggest queue I have ever seen at Caenlochan with the Meall Odhar poma being shut lots of people were using it for access and the queue was mental.
Busy too on the Cairnwell side with competition not helping.
Overall surface condition are ok, there is no real base to speak off so there are very thin areas on most runs. Just need another 10cm+.

Spent most of the day in Coire Fionn and never queued longer than 5-8 minutes.
Not sure where your coming from regarding it being a washout?

5-8 minutes? You must have had some serious luck, great timing or the rose coloured specks on.
Caenlochan the queue was down to the cafe probably about 30 minutes, on the Cairnwelll Chair and Butcharts too I had a similar wait. Butcharts broke down for a decent amount of time while I was on it after a long wait and Tom Dearg ran out of diesel so was there for at least 20 minute wait there.
I may have had a 5 minute wait a few times today once on the cairwell T and once or twice on Coire Fionn but anything less than 10 was unusual.

Yeah the lift thats directly next to the piste had a fairly large queue on it, but the other one had virtually no queue at all the whole day. Longest queue I was in on that one was maybe 4 people. The other one had maybe 20-30 people consistantly throughout the day, though it didnt seem to take long to eat up the queue.
To be honest I reckon allot of folk didnt make it to Coire Fionn after being put off by Caenlochan which was at least a 20 minute wait.
With that many people in the hills I think the staff and lifts were pushed to say the least. Breakdowns are (something like) 80% caused by misuse by users btw. Ran out of fuel; The pisters have been worked hard making snow and prepping lifts & uptracks. As I said last weekend there were 4 or 5 lifts running, now there are 18/19! Big turnaround this week. Which is why I think it was a "good show".
Well I had a good day.

I am not complaining that much, had nothing but good times at Glenshee in the past, just today was not one of them. Re: the diesel, that was just queue talk so could well have been a made up story.

Sounds like roscoeh had some bad luck, but on "special" days like today that will happen. I did see some long queues, but they came and went. Sometimes very little waiting, especially later as the two other chairs came on.
The good news is, days like that generally only happen once a year - first day of very good snow and very good weather on a weekend when there has not quite been time to get 100% open.
Once the full uplift gets going, the queues shrink to minimal and become avoidable.
They do an incredible job to get the place from 3 lifts to 18 in what, 7 days? Its like opening all the lifts on Cairngorm and Glencoe combined within a week from a near standing start and a skeleton staff.
