Snow-forecast.com is predicting 8cm of snow from Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night, I hope it pulls of as forecasted, most of the time I just take it with a pinch of salt.

Not a fan of using televisions for public information display - there is a tendancy to cram too much in and the contrast ratio is too low to quickly pick out key points.

There isn't much work involved in adding lamps to a large public information board so long as the controller has enough outputs. Drill a new hole for the lamp, run a cable, reprogram and zing.

There was a groomer etc at top of Carn Aosda yesterday afternoon.

Looking at Glas Maol on Sunday, it looked like there was a loss of snow at the top of the gully (red) compared to Friday. Snow blown from the right direction and more towards the bottom and it could soon change.

Another reasonable snowfall and the whole area could be open.

Lets hope

Glas Maol just needs another snow fall and it will be open. Good skiing over there though if your happy to look for it.

There's been quite a bit of machine work on the Glas Maol uptrack, esp just above the corner where a good depth is needed - snow has been shoved in from round about.

Theres been reports of a groomer sitting at the top of Carn Aosda for a few days now. I wonder if its just sitting there keeping tension in the rope while they work on the return wheel (which was apparrently giving trouble). Certainly seen a ski-doo coming down from that direction yesterday afternoon.

Glas Maol needs a tad more snow for anything to be decent to ski on. But the uptrack looked good the other day.

andytb, the boards already have lamps on them and I remember them being used a few years ago. But the maps will need updated with the removal of some lifts and addition of the Baddoch.

Would be brilliant if they get these lifts get up & running in time for half term. Will no doubt sell them a good few tickets on the basis that Glas Maol is open alone.

Not a bad day today, just not brilliant. Almost spring skiing conditions.

Carn Aosda was being prepped (ie. Tow hangers getting put on) so I imagine it will open as soon as theres the snow to do so. So you can hawd yer weesht!

Snow cover is much the same as last weekend. Though after the slight warm weather yesterday it is thinning in places where there was no base. Still loads to ski on though. If it gets chilly again we will be fine.

Im afraid though that its probably going to be a case of looks can be deceptive Im afraid (ie. webcam) for this.

Will be up today so will give an update tonight.

Very quite today considering its half term. Did not que for longer than 5 minutes today, and in most cases was straight onto the lift. Though was skiing with a begginer today so was not doing too many red runs.

Snow is starting to shift a bit, and some runs are getting more exposed. But 3 cafes open today and had a stop in all. Also good work by the lifties on Tom Dearg helping out some snow boarders struggling with the up lift. Good to see.

With the sun shinning in the morning, small ques and the snow in good conditions, certainly one of the best days up the hill this season. I am just wondering where are all the people?

Was up to day for my first day of the season.

Agree with peaches - great day and queues were quiet. On leaving this afternoon, it looked like the main big car park had been about nearly full.

Lovely sunshine in the morning, smiles, friendly staff and BIG rolls. No queues to speak of.

Red racetrack in excellent condition and good sport to be had in the 2 valleys, although thin and narrow in places. Didn't make it ot the 3rd valley as I had a small person in tow.

Yes, park in great condition. Even tried some of the features myself winking smiley

Tiger was also running most of the day, sunnyside chair seemed to be running in the afternoon. Baddoch was performing well and my daughter spotted a "new" run -
Baddoch chair -> past the Cairnwell cafe -> carpark slope down to main cafe (well almost) -> Baddoch chair and so on, which she has named the "Bacon roll(ers)".

Claybokie was getting thin in the middle of the slope in the afternoon and may not be in agood state tomorrow with today's higher temperatures, so beginners may fare better on the Tom Dearg, Cluuny and Butcharts Coire runs?

Hello

First post with a moan included.

I agree the conditions were pretty good on Sat. 11 Feb 12. However, Peaches as you mentioned the helpful lifties on Tom Dearg, I noticed the complete opposite on Corrie Fionn. In fact I complained to the manager. Though I have to say it was not the usual liftie on Corrie Fionn that was the problem it was another chap telling others working there that there was no need to help me as everyone else 'seemed' to be managing which I may add that some were struggling to manage.

The lifties are great it appears to be other members of staff that are the problem, as this is not the only time I have come across rude and unhelpful staff at Glenshee including in the ticket office. I also noticed that it is NoT the young people that are rude and unhelpful.

Anyway back to the conditions at least I enjoyed the snow:-)I find the patches of heather and rock as well as thinner sections of snow help improve my skills which after all is the aim! I hope one day to be able to hop over some heather but I'm not that good yet although I do enjoy watching those that can, hoping I can pick up some tips.
