I've been a bit more wordy in the Public Report - but had an awesome day. Great winter snow everywhere on the Cairnwell side. The grooming team did a great job taking the crust off. If the weather looks good, go.

WRT the new charilift, all chairs appeared to be up. Boxes were being hung on the Butchart's T-Bar at the end of the day, saw some mention of a park soon, there's plenty of snow in that area for them to work with.

Theyll be keen to test out their new bully park blade n blower grinning smiley

Unfortuneatly the saxo's engine blew up on the way back from Glenshee last night (it couldnt handle the awsomenes) so if anyones heading up from the Alyth area, Or Blairgowrie, etc and feeling generous enough to make a slight detour past my house on their way, Id be very greatful and will offer fuel money. Otherwise it doesnt look promising for me getting up until middish next week if Im lucky. sad smiley

Usually takes them a wee while to get stuff open across that way. I'd imagine (snow permitting) they'd aim to open sunnyside and the cluny ones first and perhaps some more on the cairnwell side.

You can get the other munros here: [www.cnag.org.uk]

F**k it! Why does my car have to be broken down this week!?

Looking good though, personally I have my doubts for glas maol being open by friday; reason being that sunnyside, tom dearg, meal odhar plus coire fionn (and obviously glas maol) (At the very least) must all be opened which is no small task. Apart from putting the poma bars on all the lifts (if they havnt done already) they will need to de-ice all the lifts, oil them and whatnot then they will also have to get the generators fueled and running as fell as fine tune everything. And then groom all the uptracks and runs. As far as I know they havnt been over that way since the snow has come. Theres also the small problem with imediate availability of staff. I would expect them to open up as far as Meal Odhar or possibly Caenlochan (one of my favourites) if we are lucky by the weekend but Id be very surprised if they get as far as Glas Maol.

However judging from Saturday's conditions plus recent reports the entire Cairnwell side may well be open (though probably without the two chairlifts), possibly with beginnings of a park appearing as well. And from what I can tell it should be pretty epic conditions.

Cammyammy, an idea for a lift is tel glenshee as they have a buss pick up staff from blairgowrie, and im sure one of the lifties working last sunday lives in blairgowrie.
Also last year a member of staff in a 4x4 joined the a93 on the junc that is on tat steep double bend.maybe they are near alyth.
Also a couple young lads in a w reg car last year were heading up from blairgowrie direction-again they were staff( i think onee of them ticket office).
So tel gleshee n asking may offer another solution:-)

Anyway aplogies for going off topic.

Back on topic glenshee snow (from what i can see)still looking good:-)

Haha cheers Snowflo, you make it sound like you sit at that corner watching traffic with an eagle eye.

I know a good number of the staff do come fae Blair/Alyth area and that there is a bus. The big problem is that I live in the countryside 7 miles north of Alyth and without a car theres no way I'll make it to Blair for that time. And its also strictly not a public bus apparently.

My AA fiend is trying to get me an engine and fit it, though I owe it to the man as hes working 9 solid days and doing it in his spare time. Still going to cost £500 to fix it (the cars only worth £1k!). Hopefully I should get it back before christmas, but in the mean time Im hoping to borrow a car that should get me sorted for this weekend!

Iv gone way off topic too, so to balance it out, Im hearing great results from up that way. Sunnyside (and possibly beyond) looks like it could be a goer by the weekend meaning at least one step closer to the mighty Maol! Also snow-forecast.com is suggesting a good dump next satuday night! smiling smiley smiling smiley smiling smiley smiling smiley

^ Looks like you may be good for this afternoon with 7 lifts showing to be opening. Still 40 mph winds so if that calms down you could have a great day.

Glenshee is slowly edging its way towargd being fully open for xmas. A few cms each day get us closer. Hopefully a few storm free days will get at least the back open as far as but not including the Glas Maol. The GM open for the weekend would be a bonus.

Anyone been out touring that way? What are conditions like?

Excellent skiing today. Only lower lifts were open due to the wind but still well worth the visit.
Tom Dearg was run of the day.

The crews were busy pisting away and late afternoon they pisted Beag pomma and around Meal Odhar cafe.
Wouldn't be surprised if Caenlochan opens in the next day or so. Not sure about Meal Odhar. They were busy working on the tow but looking from a distance i suspect they will have to farm the snow. Looked to be deep drifts in places and very thin in others but as they were working there they must be confident of opening it soon.

Light snow showers this afternoon amongst the wind blown stuff. 3 rows of cars in the car park.

All in all excellent and knackered.
