Just back from a a couple of hours at Glenshee.
For me it was fine though for others I understood it was a bit of an irritation. Visibility was good though every couple of minutes a sudden gust of wind blew ALLOT of snow up and, it goes without saying, there is allot of drifting. They were only running sunnyside 2, and sadly, not 1 as it was really quite busy at times. I beleive this is because of some enormous drifts on the uptrack meaning ther e wasnt room for both to be spinning. It also meant the pomas were not getting blown into towers.
The cairnwell T-bar was open though was closed mid day I assume due to the wind. But they made the most of an oppertunity and had a piste basher out there on those runs the rest of the afternoon.
Seen at least 3, possibly 4 piste bashers out packing the drifting snow down, especially on the race track. At least 1 came over from Meal Odhar so hopefully they are preparing to open that area up.
The butcharts T-bar I think opened when the cairnwell clsosed to try and reduce queing.
Oh and they are hoping to open 17/23 lifts if conditions allow. Including our friend Coire Fionn, etc.
Queuing was my biggest irritation but to be fair I beleive they were opperating at full capacity given wind.
The cafe was doing good business all day.
The snow was drifting allot so some areas were thin & icy and some were deep & powdery.
The boys were out digging out a rail at Butcharts this afternoon. So maybe developements there soon.
If its not too windy this weekend could be fantastic. Sadly I have to go to Cairngorm.
Oh and hats off to the guys keeping the lifts running. Id never climb up a pylon with winds like that!
