This was a comment on the Nevis Facebook page today before winds shut the quad.

"The quad chair is running today - at 50% capacity (in terms of chairs) due to the storm damage, all the chairs are on but we are only able to use 50% of them."

Pretty sure it was listed as open in the morning report and when I came up at lunchtime it was closed so I just assumed it had been open at some point, maybe not.

The quad chair wasn't listed as scheduled last night. I didn't see the earlier reports from Nevis today but when I looked after lunch and later in the afternoon it was listed as closed.

The Quad chair did run I was on it you need to get up a wee bit earlier sexyboy it closed around 10.30.

There was a Technical problem so customers were removed for safety reasons, lets not forget this lift was mangled 2 weeks ago, so a few wee problems dont surprise me.

All in all good day on the hill.

Don't wish to put the cat amongst the pigeons but do you think the quad chair is damaged more than first thought? I sincerely hope not as I'm coming up in February and would love to try Nevis Range for the first time, especially the chair and fairway runs but I've noticed a couple of posts now about only using 50% of the chairs and then stopping it yesterday altogether. Is it safe??

Of course it is safe or else they wouldn't have ran it yesterday.

Do you think the hill manager thought "Lets just take the damaged chairs off and fire her up with customers on it to see if she works?".

50% of the chairs is still better than 0% of the chairs smiling smiley

Ok, maybe safety isn't what I really meant to go into and I fully appreciate that safety will always come first..

What I'm saying is why only run it at 50% capacity? Is it damaged worse than first thought... Just wondered if anybody had any inside knowledge as it'd be really awful if it was going to be out of action for any length of time.

Mike - I think it is because 50% of the chairs themselves are damaged, i.e. only half of them are actually safe for you to use, hence the rest are out of action.

Although I think I've only been on it twice, the Quad is easily my favourite piece of uplift equipment in Scotland. May it live long.

Shootingmike, even if the quad is running at half capacity, it is usually more thatn enough for a que not to form anyway.

Not being able to ride from the top of the alpha button to the bottom of the goose t-bar because of crap conditions

Not being able to ride from the bottom of the goose t-bar to the bottom of the alpha tow due to condition

There was snow there, but just not enough in certain places for snowboards to ride either ways without having to unstrap and walk a little

Snow very hard and rutted at the start of the alpha tow, I managed to stay on my board but watched loads of boarders coming off the tow

I guess Nevis did the best with what snow they had, they just needed more snow Gor my liking
