OMG, really why the complaining? Nevis like the other centres have been doing their best considering the exceptional weather we have had over the past couple of months.

Oh the snow is "very hard and rutted" sorry we cant make it all soft and fluffy for you! I have been riding for over 20 years and have seen some of the best and worst but never complained about conditions just poor management (Cairngorm!). Take Scotland for what it is, we make the best of what we have if you can't deal with that please dont waste my time or others complaining either that or go to France and I am sure you will find a reason to complain there winking smiley

Come on dude lighten up. I think sexyboy's post was fair doo's. Fact is that the conditions were crap, their not brilliant anywher in UK atm. And it can be frustrating, very frustrating in fact. And I think he made it clear that he wasnt complainig about the management, just the weather gods!

Pleasant afternoon up the hill with sunshine on the summit and very little wind. The cover on the upper 2/3rd of the goose is still pretty good. It’s just the lower tow track and the last 100m or so to the base of the lift that is a bit ropey. Middle runs still retain a partial base which will help them fill again when snow returns mid week. We managed to avoid downloading and got back to bottom of the chair via alt sneachda, though this is broken from the main goose run at the very top so a wee bit of walking required. Summit runs have very low snow cover, possibly the least I’ve ever seen up there though still pleasant surface conditions. It really hightlighted just how much snow this area of the hill normally has! Will try and upload some pics later on.

Just found some of the shots Charne took on the NR site, very nice.

Yeah Stevie looks quite bare up there but in the Backs the snow is holding out well.

Fun Sunday was a real good day quite a giddy day it must have been the sun going to our heads...

I've never seen the surface of the ground up there before!

Anyone know just how solid the snow in the back is? I'm tempted to come up this weekend if it would be worth skiing, as long as it's not bulletproof... looks like a small sprinkling of fresh is forecast too.

The Backs are solid at the moment quite a few folk have been in but reports are not good accept for the cover, however someone was finding the powder... [www.skimountain.co.uk]

Strong westerly's and snow is forecast so the Backs will catch some fresh but not sure how much snow we will get by the weekend.

I have seen that guy in the photo above with the fruit pastel coat on at Nevis Range before, he has got some steeez. smiling smiley

After three weeks of cabin fever, it was great to strap the skis back on yesterday. Great weather and impressive cover remains in the Back Corries. As others have mentioned, the going is currently very firm, so care is required on the steeps. On the front side, the Goose has been impressively pisted to its full width, hopefully more snow will arrive soon!

Thanks for the updates on the backs, not sounding their most pleasant! Just need to wait and see what happens in the near future weather-wise then.
