I'm assuming there will be a finishing line area with dj / bar etc maybe a demo tent?

dont actually have the skill to take part but would be great as a spectator event with some on hill entertainment

^Looking up the Cliffy last week (photo from Public Reports, by Murfy). Though more like a six lane motorway then than a craggy outcrop!

Gutted this is the same weekend as the Scottish Boarder/skiercross championship at Glenshee WHY?????????????????????? (not a rhetorical question.... can anyone explain this???) I mean a speed event and a freestyle event the same weekend I can understand (there's only so many weekends after all) but freeride and boardercross.... I don't get it.

As above I agree why have two top events on the same weekend?? It's a real shame as these two events would attract the same type of skier/snowboarder and now it's gonna split the numbers up as people decided where to go.
Is it really that hard to plan ahead and find out who's doing what and when ??

Folks, us guys at Aberdeen Snowsports Club are delighted to support any new and exciting event that raises the profile of Scottish Snowsports. We did that with the Scottish Ski and Boarder Cross in 2010 and as you all know had a second great event in 2011 at Glenshee.

Just for clarity around the date clash. We sought the 3/4 March 2012 over a year ago from Snowsport Scotland and have worked hard with the Scottish Competitions Committee to ensure that there was a pattern and framework in the calender. In essence we wanted to ensure that where possible only one major event was on at any time and where there was a clash they were of different disciplines. Indeed we are delivering the Glenshee Winter Games on 4/5 February 2012 which features a seeded Alpine Race and the first leg of the Highlander series. The broader and better the calender is the better for all of us. That said, I am dissappointed that an event such as the Coe Cup which we would undoubtedly been able to support with entries and spectators is on the same weekend as the SSBX.

This year the SSBX is going to be bigger and better. Premier Oil have come on board as principal sponsor, a whole range of industry sponsors, Goretex, Salomon, Zaini and others are confirming as we speak and we have the GB Ski Cross Team competing.

I wish the Coe Cup well it will be a great event I'm sure, the more variety the better. Check out our links to see what we are about [www.aberdeensnowsportsclub.org]
and look forward to a great season!

Hey All,

Andrew here,

Really sorry the dates clash. We had to make a call on the date due to a number of different reasons. Historical snow conditions, a full Snowsports Scotland calendar, when Jeremy and Fred were available plus a couple of other wee factors.

We're totally supportive of SSBX and hopefully for the 2013 event there won't be a clash.
