Going off the figures in the Hearld then numbers look about 9% down on what Cairngorm had budgeted on. In what is acknowledged as at the poor end of poor winters isnt really that bad. Is 73thou a realistic number of skier for a normal winter - normal in terms of the last 10 years or so - or does it underplay the potential numbers. Just seems a none story - poor season numbers down not exactly a surprise. If the number of skiing days was down 20 or 30% on what might be expected and visits are down less than 10% then it might even be a good news story.

I was at the Lecht today, did not call on James or other staff, but noticed that they have excavated a large amount of peat on the uphill side of the water tank for the snow-making, and have deposited it temporarily in the car park nearby, along with top vegetation. I'd say it's likely that they intend to put in a second water tank on the uphill side of the existing one. There was also fresh excavation of peat between the SW corner of the main car park and the foot of Eagle, possibly for a track. Interesting to see the works, given the poor season they have had. It shows brave optimism.
Last season the Lecht had 10886 skier cum boarder-days, their worst fpr years, Coe 10614, Nevis 9788 the smallest total of the five ski areas, Shee 33947, Cairngorm ski area 66463.
