Anyone have custom footbeds and knock knees?
Date Posted: 17.38hrs on Mon 2 Apr 12
Hi everyone
Looking for some advice. I have quite bad knock knees. Female with very little muscles tone. I used to wear 4 deg orthotics to help align my body.
However when I went to get new boots, the shop advises that I should get sidas conform-ables custom footbeds rather than using the orthotics. My podiatrist had previously advised me not to use the orthotics in my boots but I found they allowed me to turn easier.
Has anyone used these footbeds who also have knock knees?
Accordingly to my podiatrist they are worth a try. She said they will probably return my feet to a natural footing.
Thanks for any advice that anyone can offer either on my knee problem or these make of footbeds in general
Thanks
Fluff

My wife was advised against orthotics too in ski boots, because it makes it harder to edge the ski.
She has 7 degree orthotics, but is finding them a bit extreme.
she used superfeet in her ski boots
our ski instructor in past has recommended the sidas conform-ables custom footbeds

Thanks telemarker. It is good to hear of others with the same problem.
Has your wife thought of getting the conform-ables or does she feel that the superfeet work well enough?
I don't fancy parting with £60 if they don't really help.
Thanks again, fluff.

Hi Fluff, I have exactly the same problem and do wear my orthotics inside my ski boots. I'm afraid I don't know what angle they are set at but I do think that they keep my legs in pretty good alignment and haven't noticed any problems turning or edging. I'd not heard of conform-ables but will now check them out. Nikki.

I've had the conformable footbeds for years, they are if nothing else very comfortable. Had them done at Brigham's in Xscape and very happy.

I've used a 2 or 3 degree foam angle under standard Superfeet for several years now, and my knees feel better for it. I had moulded Conformable in a previous pair of ski boots, with no correction angle, but get on better with the modified Superfeet.
Do you know why the Podiatrist suggested not using the orthotics in ski boots? Sounds like you tried anyway!

I don't know much about bootfitting, but surely this could be solved by canting?
