OlderAlan - the most uninspiring things I ever read on WH are your relentless whinges, whines and relentless analysis of apparently inept ski centre management.
Running a ski centre is easy from your arm chair - especially when you don't have to answer to HIE or Bank of Scotland
Pretty sure everyone would like to see Coire Ciste run again if circumstances allow. Or do you honestly believe they are keeping it shut just to spite you ?

Optimistic Doug.

1/ The pronouncement is from the Board of CML, not necessarily the oiperators. As I understand it, CML is 100% owned by HIE. The board are appointed by HIE, and operate solely with the agreement of the owner. It is therefore a reasonable assumption that any public pronouncements from the Board represent also the views and policies of the owner for the operation. HIE is a public body, and therefore we all have a right to express our opinions about what they are doing.
2/ CML is unique among the Scottish areas because of that public ownership by a major and influential organisation. Many other linked and other public bodies and layers of government will consider that its ownership of the "jewel" of Scottish snowsports will somehow give it a unique expert insight into the future of the industry. That influence will also extend to major sources of finance and other critical functions. There is therefore also a unique responsibility for any pronouncements to be extremely considered, measured and based fully on real facts and expectations. Excess negativity will not only affect the public's perception of CML as a future destination for wintersports in Scotland (ie adversely affect demand not only at CML, but also at Glencoe, Shee, Lecht and Nevis), but also adversely affect potential sources of finance for capital investment at those centres, and colour the views of planners, transport providers, infrastructure providers, etc, serving those centres.
3/ IMHO, Olderalan has not just criticised, but also offerred an entirely logical and supportable alternative modus.
