Shouldn't having the narrow culvert rather than a high bridge should allow to snow to drift and settle in to the burn a lot easier as well?
Awaiting photos the first time it is forded in spring

Moved from conditions thread:
The Funicular is VAT exempt as public transport, enforcing the closed system today is like the bus driver on the bus arriving in the Cas Carpark and announcing that he/she thinks it's a tad blowy today, so no one is allowed to get off the bus and everyone has to go back down to Glenmore.
CML might argue that they don't want skiers on the mountain as they'd get in the way of preparation work, but Glenshee, the Lecht and Glencoe (without electricity) are open today - perhaps they need to actually make money?

another example of completely crap information. Lifts and pistes page says at the top
"Fresh drifting snow - Top Bowls are in great condition, with groomed packed powder. It is possible to get back to the Day Lodge via the lower slopes, but the lower mountain does have thin cover from the ZZ's down.Wind too strong for Ciste Tow at present therefore we are operating middle station stops."
and it shows (at 11.30!) funicular "opening" but then below shows all pistes as closed.
Complete nonsense, notwithstanding Alan's point!
The piste info ''Fresh Drifted Snow...'' is the same message that's been there since Sunday...poor show really. Nothing new though...same story every season.

Fact is their website is presently showing contradictory information. The home page says that there are no snowsports today but that the Funicular is running. At the same time, they are showing piste info that indicates that they are open for snowsports (this section is out of date and hasn't been updaated since Sunday) A poor show and something that could easily be corrected if only an effort was made.

Doug, I think you would be having a bloody good moan if you'd just read that report as you had and traveled to CairnGorm for an afternoon play.
Did you read the next bit?
: CairnGorm Mountain Lift Status & News
No snowsports today due to drifting snow and high winds. The first Funicular will be at 12: 20 , last train up at 15: 20, last train down at 16: 00

useless. if there's snow on the ground that i can make it from top to bottom on, run the funicular and let people enjoy themselves.
advertise that there's no ski patrol in these conditions, and CML's arse is covered.

That is rubbish, who on Earth would not allow snowports yet keep the main lift running. All they need to do is literally unlock a door to pull in a few extra £££. Its just daft. Thats what happens when ski centres have "Ops meetings" and clipboards lol (GLenshee reference).

I could agree with a lot of hot air - as posting here will not resovle anything and CML will contunue to be unaware of the issue.
Someone posted a commet on Colin's blog about no date stamp on the updates and they got a response.
Also what is confusing about the status - no snow sports - train operating (bit like 8 months of the year) at least you will be let out at the top to do your own thing.
Does anyone think CML Ski Patrol are going to ignore anyone injured - in or around the "patrolled area" regardless?

Yes good point, i will make sure a time goes on the updates on the site
Cheers
Colin
Hi Colin, congratulations on getting open and by sounds of things hill is in great shape. However, I'm finding the new website a bit confusing, there is no date or time when a message comes on, so I'm not sure if that was yesterday's or today's? Was thinking of coming up today, but message is reading that the mountain is closed due to increasing high winds. Could they please put a date and time on this, as I need to know early.
I have also observer that data can be cached data in the browser, I refresh and it updates - not saying thats the reason this time - just something I noticed

Someone is listening......info now up to say what is planned for tomorrow: Carpark, Cas, Ciste and Ptarmigan T-Bars + Funicular.
Good to read that surface uplift can now run from the carpark....that will ensure that it's busy this weekend.
Kind regards
