How much were the lift prices back then?

Today £31.50. Only did 10 runs all day. £3.15 per run is not good value. Yes I know you get ski patrol etc but still bad value when other centres are discounting tickets. When you consider the lengths of the runs the value gets even worse.

They started farming snow for the zigzags at the end of the day rather than the start. Says everything. Also the new snow snow cannon was not running when I left yet temperature was below 0. Is the snow canon on or not?

Paying £31.50 is a bit of a rip off if you ask me. With only 40% of the uplift network running I do think thats a bit unreasonable.

I agree that the queues were pretty long yesterday, but was grateful for the good weather and nice snow. The liftie on the Ciste should be commended….he must have the patience of a saint.

Just one question though, is there any reason why the West Wall Poma wasn’t running? Perhaps say loading from roughly the foot of the Fairway? The track seemed to be complete and well prepared from what I could see. It may have helped speed up the uplift on that side.

This is a genuine question.

If there are so few lifts operating at CGM, what do the lifties who are not actually working the lifts do ? are they laid off ? If not, why are volunteers (ambassadors) being used to manage lift Q's ?

WWP should be available for operation at some point during the first half of next week - not sure if it's still down for the reasons stated at the start of the season.

Sadly, from what I hear, a lot of the lifties were laid off.

I doubt if you can load a Poma from halfway up the track, unless you want half your punters killed or concussed!
Or am I wrong?

It did in January and February 2006. If you look at the above link photo ( Cairngorm 10th feb 2006 in Pix from the Slopes) you can see the queue at the foot of the Fairway

JCSB36, as Hilly said we were managing the queues at both ends. If some folks queue jumped and we didnt catch them then we are sorry for missing a few miscreants. On the whole most people co-operate with us and the sometimes peculiar queue management we try to perform once they understand what we are trying to do.

same price as 2hrs at braehead.... which seems to be the yardstick these days...

Out of interest when they spend £500,000 on a fleet of snow cannons, how would people feel about paying £31.50 for a single lift/piste?

There is an easy solution to all the frustration, queuing problems and value for money.

Its called Glenshee.

No queues recently (not even close). Very friendly. Much more varried terrain. The lift status and webcams don't do Glenshee justice at the moment - ask anyone who has been there the last 3 weeks.

The area between the Cairnwell T-bar and Butcharts Access provides everything you need - a steep red, a mellow blue, a great gully, a ridge run, a terrain park, three lifts, a cafe and, since last week, a chairlift that gets you up to the snow in less than 5 minutes from the car park. Its also much less expensive.

I'm just trying to help solve your problems.

I agree, why people go there when there's snow elsewhere is beyond me...it's always a hassle and a crap day out unless it's spring and the place is empty.

£31.50 vs £22, 4 lifts vs 4 (including 1 fast poma), just as much snow of comparable quality, a wider variety of terrain, a (as of now) comparable park equipped with much better, more expensive boxes & rails (setup by expert shaper Mal Judd no less), and as said swift access to snow via the new chair...

Glenshee could do with the support, thats been lacking of late.

To come back on topic, can anyone comment of the effectiveness of the canon with the wednesday thaw in mind?
