Thanks, is this still a 10am kick-off at the cafe.?

If I got the picture correct, the route starts from Cairnwell Chair, walk up to summit, then retreat back along ridge. - Are you thinking of roughly following the line of the Bunny Run on Piste Map, which is a natural walking route that traverses the heads of a few different slopes, and then passes down by the small reservoir used to feed the snow making guns on Claybokie?

Lunch & blether back at cafe by sound if it.?

I have two friends who would also like to come along if that's ok. One in particular is studying countryside management at SAC so is particularly keen.

HTH, I think you're more-or-less correct. I'm not 100% sure of the route, as I've never been on the Cairnwell before.

Hector, given that we wanted to keep the group size below 20 I can't see any problem with your two friends coming along.

All we've got to hope for is good weather! I'll settle for dry. smiling smiley

Hi Firefly, any room for one more? I noticed there was a couple of places up for grabs due to people dropping out but by the time I got home to login Hector had beaten me to it! Cheers.

I'm sure we can squeeze another one in! smiling smiley

I received this note from Adam this evening:
"After the 10am start and coffee/tea at the cafe, followed by a ride up the chairlift, the planned route is to walk from the chairlift top to the summit of The Cairnwell, next walk downhill a short distance on that side of the lift to view the Cairnwell pistes, then walk under the chairlift and along roughly the Bunny route before dropping to Claybokie and the snow-making set-up, and lastly down to the cafe for lunch and discussion. The exact route will be altered if there is bad weather. In the afternoon, if the hills are clear and participants would like to see more, we could view other snow-patch sites and avalanche sites and influence of snow on vegetation, down to the Braemar area and beyond."

Might be of interest to some of those attending, there are single rooms available in the Spittal of Glenshee Hotel for £20 a night on the Saturday night.

Thanks, Alan.

I'm going back to Stirling to celebrate/drown sorrows with various Falkirk fans after the Scottish Cup final, so won't be able to hang around for the evening.

Donald,

Yes, I've spoken to Adam and we've agreed that 22 people should be the limit, so please feel free to come along.

The weather, at present, looks as though it's going to be very good indeed, so it should be a fantastic day.

I'm coming by motorbike from the south towards Glenshee, so if you're in a car and see a black Triumph overtake you on the road up then you'll know who it is! smiling smiley
