after a days boarding in Glencoe we headed to fort william for a night out.

Lets just say it wasn't what we were expecting. We ended up in a hotel function suite, with the worst deejay int he world playing hard trance, not a good looking girl and site, bad school disco lights and smoke, some guy ballroom dancing to hard trance and dropping all his dancing partners on the floor, and the locals LOVING it.

Lets just say we had to get very drunk to compensate.

Ha Ha - you must have ended up in the Ossians Hotel. I've never been or am ever likely to but it's the closest thing Fort William has to a night club

There used to be a place called Mctavish's Kitchens which predominantly ran a cheesy Scottish show for the tourists but on a Saturday night they had a disco for the locals, it was very popular until it burnt down. I guess the Ossians Hotel spotted a gap in the market hence your awful experience !!

There are a few good pubs in town though so its not all bad.

what's the pub at the bottom of the main street called. Got a pool table or two up the stairs. Had one or two too many on my last weekend ski trip up there. Got to bed at about 2am although I was knackered at 9 and had planned to head to bed then, the pub was for one last quick one before i headed back to the guest house!

ossians!! That was it. Bloody dreadful!!

Definatley ossians! Bad bad music tolerable only by a large amount of alcohol! Only been in once and to be honest it was not something I want to ever repeat! Got to head for the Volunteer - best pub in town!

we tend to get 10 people up north most weekends. Only a few the night of ossians though.

Crofters in Aviemore was always a strange place for a night out, mobbed during the season at weekends due to the weekend bus trips from Glasgow and staying at the shithole that was the Freedom Inn, needless to say i left many times over the years extremely pished.

Thats a blast from the past Crofters. I can remember drinking in crofters with a bunch of mates on a stag night getting in tow with a biker club for a right good bevvy!! What was the other place that got demolished? MacGregors or something like that??

I copuld murder a bevvy, but it turns some people intae right wanks!

Crofters bar too brings back memories on the old Mercury hotel. I was up with Skills motor coaches on a ski suprteme weekend and a lot of glaswegians were up on the saturday night. Sunday was a no ski day so we walked round aviemore and retired to the bar to find it totally drunk dry.
I don't know if anyone stopped in the Badenoch but that bar was a no go on a saturday night for 3 soft spoken derbyshire lads. We exited quick and proceeded to the offy for Labatts Blue. God I miss that beer. Pissed on two bottles lol.
Shittest night out was in the Balavil in Newtonmore. Some singer dressed in country and western gear molesting good songs... Bugger me if the year after he wasn't on again singing the same shite. Capone I think his name was. Just made people drink more to drown him out.

Since your visit new lights and more to the point new djs no hardcore trance or electro any more fridays and saturdays all requests and full dancefloor!!!!!!
