Perfect blue sky for the start of the day, looking up Carn Aosda from outside the Cafe.

Site of the former Tiger T-bar bottom station.

Heading up the Cairnwell Chairlift, breeze getting up as we climb, but warm sunshine.

The new Bi-lingual signs at the entrance to the Cairnwell side Car Park.

Close up showing winter die back of high level vegetation - keeps vegetation in approximate equilibrium preventing it growing higher.

Carn Aosda viewed from the Tiger on the walk back down the Cairnwell. The prominent line between the Carn Aosda T-bar and Access Poma is an estate road.

Looking down the former line of the Tiger T-bar to the Ski Area Base.

A lone SMI Highland Fan Gun sits adjacent to the foot of the Claybokie.

Claybokie Snowmaking pond used to feed the snow making system on the Claybokie Piste.

Six snow making fan guns lined up in the Car Park. These got Claybokie up and running in a couple of nights around New Year last season.

New T-bar safety poster ! Take note....

Further down Glen Clunie, looking up from the A93, the snow patch vegetation in the Coire stands out as the lighter areas, not elongated patch around the Coire rim where cornices form.

A beautiful day and as it turned out in parts of the Highlands the hottest day of the year so far on Saturday. Patchy early cloud and mist on the North and Eastern side of the Cairngorms was dispersing rapidly on the drive over the A939 and B976 in the morning, with unbroken sunshine on arrival at Glenshee.

Today's walk about with Dr Adam Watson was organized as a thank you for those who have contributed to snow patch monitoring over the past couple of summers.

The day started with the group meeting up in the Cafe at the base before taking the Cairnwell Chairlift up the Cairnwell and a short walk up the final section to the Summit.

Please visit the blog for a fuller account of the day and a report on the Question and Answer session with Willie Meston (manager) from Glenshee.

A big thank you to Dr Adam Watson, Iain Cameron (Firefly) and Glenshee for a fascinating day. Also thank you to everyone who made it along.
