Apart from a brief attempt at drizzle which didn't amount to much it turned out a decent day for the mid summer slide at Glencoe to mark the passing of the Summer Solstice, with good visibility and some sunny spells. Plus light winds which meant the Cliffhanger Chair reduced the leg work required to get to the top of the mountain.
After heading up the Access and walking over the Plateau, then up the Cliffhanger, the group set off on the walk up the Main Basin. Stopping to check out remaining snow patches in the Haggis Trap and Island Rock Gully on the way.
We had one run on the top patch in the Main Basin, then moved down to the larger patch below where a small jump was built for an impromptu kicker session. Everyone got a few runs in here before to end the day we traversed round the hillside on foot to the top of the remaining snow on the Spring Run.
With a longer patch and much more gradient and near perfect fast granular spring snow, the Spring Run offered up some sweet turns. Roll on winter 2013!
A big thank you to Glencoe for spinning the Cliffhanger Chair and everyone who came along for a fun day out.
