Sunny spells and wintry showers with some more prolonged snow at lunchtime which freshened up the ptarmigan bowl. A bit milder in the afternoon with some snow consolidation and melting at lower levels and the snow became a bit sticky.
:: Snow Conditions & Info
First day at Cairngorm for me this season and with M1 poma running it opened up the mid-mountain. Ptarmigan bowl and traverse and the east wall above Ptarmigan tow has good cover. Ciste fairway was pisted and has good cover but getting thin lower down. M1 racetrack full width on upper sections and gave some great skiing all day, a bit thinner lower down. Cas full width at top but some combat skiing required lower down on Gunbarrel with streams underneath. 105 was pisted and good on upper sections and the lower link is narrow but still complete to M1 loading area. Fiaciaill traverse best run of the day with loads of fresh snow. It was just great to get some skiing again when I thought the season was over!! Glencoe tomorrow and Friday!
