We may have past the middle of May, but it has snowed every day this week on CairnGorm Mountain.

If your reading this email on Friday 18th May, your also reading it on the 16th day of snow fall this month on CairnGorm Mountain! Yes, you read that correctly, so far this May it has snowed every day bar 2 on the 'Gorm and the even better news for skiers and boarders is that the third weekend in May is set to see increasingly fine weather as high pressure builds in, with light winds both days and CairnGorm Mountain is still offering 1250ft of lift served vertical with an additional 300ft on offer to those hiking to the Summit.

Grab a bargain and make a weekend out of it...

Mid May there's some great accommodation deals near CairnGorm. At time of writing the Macdonald Aviemore Inn was offering a Twin or Double including a fantastic buffet breakfast in the Highland Food Court for just £79 per room on Late Rooms. Elsewhere B&B available from £27 per room in Strathspey for a single.

The past three days have seen fresh tracks laid down daily on the 'Gorm with light snow falling on the mountain while these emails were being sent out. The Upper Mountain has complete cover with ride anywhere conditions across the Ptarmigan Bowl and the Ptarmigan Ridge which is offering extensive moderate off-piste.

We might be sliding towards the final third of May this weekend, but there is still fantastic riding for all ability levels with a range of green, blue, red and black terrain on offer.

Park: Ptarmigan Terrain Park contains 4 boxes, 3 rails and a large kicker. Also mini rider cross on the Ptarmigan Traverse and the Nessie Rollers on the Fiacaill Traverse (Mid Mountain - easiest access via Cas Tow).

Uplift:The Funicular (mid-stopping) and M1 Poma were serving the mid mountain on Thursday, with the Ciste and Ptarmigan T-bars plus the Polar Express Trainer Tow at the top. The same are scheduled for Friday with the Coire Cas Tow loading at the top of the Gunbarrel also scheduled for the weekend demand permitting.

Please consider avalanche risk with regard to the steep off-piste - speak to patrol for the latest. Extensive moderate off-piste in the Top Basin off the Ptarmigan Ridge, the upper East Lady, below the Traverse and in the Cas Boulderfield. Excellent touring potential on the Plateau.
