Bernie. A man at one with his natural habitat.

The ski club car park at Greenside lead mine.

The new 'Powder room' (toilet) has a good depth around it.

Tour du Duvet - so called because its so gentle you can ski yourself to sleep.

My belt and portable tow clip. The portable tow clip was last used in 1979!

The protable tow has been set up below the engine hut adding another 200m of lift. Half mile runs from the right of the summit to the base of the rope tow are now possible opening up a huge range of options.

The snow which fell last Saturday came from the south and has topped up the tow track and the Presidents run to the right .

Always a lovely view in clear weather. Towards Skiddaw, above Keswick. The hills above Dumfries, across the Solway Firth are often visible beyond.

The view from Stang End up to the ski tow. It was easily possible today to ski all the way back to the top of the zig zags through the valley to the right.

Catstycam and Helvellyn. Helvellyn direct, the obvious wall of snow in the centre is holding well again this year.

Juniper scrub and Catstycam from the zig zags. The central Y shaped gulley was skied two seasons ago.

:: Weather Conditions
Beautiful sun most of the day. fresh southerly wind at summit, runs mainly sheltered. Cold. Freezing level probably about 400m. Well below freezing at 750m. thin cloud late in the day.
:: Snow Conditions & Info
Bernie described the skiing as 'firm' on the snow line last night. I would say it is the 'hard' end of firm! However the fast frozen snow allows long runs well away from the tow meaning that many areas were reachable even on low gradients. Snow line was about 400m. Presidents and Savages were rfrozen chop or scraped. Spent most of the day on Way Out West, Outer Mongolia and the newly named 'Tour du duvet'.
