Report
:: Tour Route(s) or Location Skied/Ridden
Glen Affric:
Toll Creagach - Tom a Choinich - Carn Eighe - Mam Sodhail - Sgurr Na Lapaich - stalkers path to Affric lodge and back to car
27km (17km on ski) , just over 2000m ascent and circa 1000m of downhill skiing.
The obvious continuation westwards from Mam Sodhail over An Socach and Sgurr Nan Ceathreamhnan with a walkout to a strategically placed car at Cluanie would give the best high level tour and descent.
:: Weather Conditions
Some low cloud coming and going in the morning then clearing away for a brilliant afternoon. Freezing level 700m rising to over 1000m by mid afternoon
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Cover generally excellent other than exposed lower level western flanks although with the forecast slight thaw a number of sections will quickly become bare making the full traverse more difficult. Skis on continuously other than one short steep section (An Leth Creag) where the angle rather than snow cover defeated us. Hard packed windblown snow in the morning gave way in the afternoon to typical spring like conditions

Nb - If ascending Toll Creagach from Gleann Nan Fiadh go to west side where a burn course often holds snow down to 550m
