The grey overcast day fitted the mood nicely, as CairnGorm's lifts lay idle despite great spring snow, as funicular construction work moved into top gear.
This was just about the only cloudy day of the month, May 2001, was a scorcher in the Central Highlands, and for the next month those working on the new Ptarmigan that skied and boarded, were able to end their day by carving up the spring snow on the White Lady in the late evening sun.
November and December were lost due to funicular construction, now add May, that's three months and counting. Sod's law aint it....
