Heavy overnight snow falls on strong Southerly winds, with continuing heavy snow showers and drifting during the day saw a further addition to the snow cover on Northern Aspects.
While the ski area continued to fill, so did the Access Roads, and what had been a struggle on Sunday had became mission impossible by Monday. With the heavy snow continuing, and even the snow poles out of sight, the link road was abandoned, and CairnGorm opened from the Ciste.
The Ciste Chair, Aonach and Daylodge Pomas providing access to/from Coire Cas, where due to the drifts only the Carpark Chair and Coire Cas Tow were operating. Lots of digging out was needed on other lifts, and with further snow and drifting on S to SE winds through the early part of this week, this task continued through the week. The White Lady Chairlift's Top Station was buried.
For 6 days CairnGorm opened from the Ciste, the Link Road was eventually re-opened the following weekend with help from a fleet of JCB's from the funicular contractors.
