Overnight snowfalls from Thursday evening topped up the cover with a fresh topping of dry powdery snow to give superb sport for all abilities all over the mountain. Just as the lifts were opening the clouds parted to give a largely blue sky and powder Friday. Already it was fair to say that CairnGorm Mountain and Glenshee were offering by far the best conditions in Europe. The 2002 Good Ski Guide went as far as saying CairnGorm Mountain, Glenshee and the Lecht arguably offered up the best snow in the Northern Hemisphere during 2001, and as of 16th March the best was yet to come...
