The upper mountain was giving some pretty decent turns on Saturday, the snow dried up and became more granular spring like snow and Rannoch Glades had caught some of the windblown fresh that hit the upper mountain as the back edge of the precipitation cleared through early morning.
Main Basin above the Haggis Trap and Happy Valley were the main action, though the full on mountain vertical remained possible the Plateau Poma run was very narrow in places and the Plateau greens though still connecting together were primarily for access as really only suitable for more confident skiers and riders until more snow returns.
The good news is, there should be a fair bit of new snow over the coming week, but it could be three or four steps forward and two backwards at times, plus also high winds are likely to limit or prevent uplift at times. Day to day detail will depend on timing of the weather systems and whether the high winds or lulls between the storm systems falls during lift opening hours.
It's going to be a frustrating week or 10 days ahead for those desperate to get up for a slide, but this is exactly the sort of January base building storm cycling that is needed. Those who can be flexible and drop everything and grab a morning or afternoon, maybe a whole day when the weather and new snow aligns could be well rewarded through mid January!
