Sun and drifting snow in the morning, was beginning to look promising - but each cell brought gusts of 60-70mph plus!

Fence lines now loaded across the triangle of Plateau Runs. Great riding in prospect for all ability levels.

Did we say it was snowing today at all levels?

Looking over a snowy carpark.

Between snow showers at the bottom of the Plateau Poma.

Ski School operating novice lessons in the relative shelter of the snow covered dry slope at 1200ft.

Between some of the more spaced out showers on Tuesday morning it looked as if it was going to happen, the sun came out and the wind eased back... Then BANG in came another shower cell and the wind was up over 70mph again!

Snow has fallen much of the day and showers continue to rattle in this evening, despite the wind when visibility allowed 3 machines were up working on the mountain prepping for Wednesday morning so far as is possible. There will however be more storm recovery and prep work needed AM as the wind is expected to remain Severe Gale Force through the night and drop off in the post dawn period.

However, with the next weather system set to be closing in during the afternoon it looks to be a day to gamble and be there for first uplift. The fact there are skiable routes to the base on the edge of Rannoch Moor at just 1200ft means even an early end will get a good final descent with 2400ft of vertical on the cards.

Ski Hire is limited as it is taking time to restock after the fire, the Plateau Cafe is currently cash only but there will be two card windows for tickets.

PLEASE REMEMBER there is no catering facilities at the base at this time. The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum serves breakfast from 7.30am, the Kingshouse Hotel is only 5 mins drive (30mins walk via West Highland Way) from the ski area carpark for teas, coffees, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please don't walk on the main road to / from the Kingshouse, the West Highland Way is significantly shorter and safer!
