A couple of photos taken from the train showing general snow cover in the Northern Cairngorms on Easter Sunday, either side of the Lairig Ghru.
On CairnGorm the upper mountain is in good condition, including the Traverse down into Coire Cas and the Upper M1 RaceTrack. However cover thins out below the top of the Gunbarrel which is thin and narrow, becoming broken below the M1 queuing area.
The upper 2 legs of the Zig Zags are skiable, but whether by the Gunbarrel or ZZs you’ll need to unclip to get back on the M1 Poma if you value what is on your feet!
Unfortunately while the Top Basin runs are green and in good condition, apart from the lower beginner magic carpet at the Daylodge, the snowsports is only suitable for advanced skiers and expert boarders as access to the upper mountain is only via the M1 Poma. Due to low snow depths on the M1 uptrack, this unsuitable for small children.
Walking is required from the Daylodge to the M1 Poma, allow between 25 to 30 minutes for this uphill. Around 15 minutes downhill.
