Glencoe was able to kick off the 2024/25 Scottish lift served season on Wednesday thanks to the new Rannoch Triple Chairlift across the Plateau which debuted on Hogmanay 2022.
Riding is on a variety of the longer Plateau green trails with the longest run a loop via the Coire Pollach uptrack onto Old Mugs Alley and round by the Cafe, then down the Access Return back to the top of the Access Chair. The Low Road is fairly wide at the top, narrow lower down, but well groomed.
Rankins Return has the best snow / cover on the main portion of the run, but it's on the agricultral side getting back to the chairlift as it got rather wind scoured.
Elsewhere is a mix of big drifts and completely scoured areas, so nothing yet above the Plateau level. Nonetheless the surface conditions are fantastic dry mid winter groomed snow, so perfect for easing the legs into a new season.
The Sledge Park is open along with the Plateau Cafe, and the Sledge Park is full width / length and in great shape. Making it's debut was the new sledge park magic carpet! Less slog, more sledging in 2025!!
Make the most of the weather and get up Thursday if you can. Friday and Saturday are looking OK so far, but things take a turn before Sunday and Severe Gales look likely.
