Report
Sunday was an increasingly warm and glorious sunny day for round 3 of the SDA on the significantly upgraded red downhill track at Glencoe. Fortunately the wind that caused havoc for those camping in and around the base area on Friday night and prevented any action on Saturday abated completely.
With no Saturday practice laps, the SDA race day was reduced to a single run in the afternoon, as opposed to the customary 2 timed runs for SDA events.
Just over 1000ft vertical from top to base of the Access Chair achieved in just 3 minutes and 3 seconds by the overall fastest time of the day Joe Connell - there's surely a challenge for skiers when there's low level snow next winter season.
The red bike track will reopen to the public on Monday morning, though Monday is not looking like the best of days with rain showers setting in mid morning, becoming heavier and persistent rain for the afternoon. A much more promising day on Tuesday, which should set the scene for a fine mid-week period.
The black downhill track is still undergoing maintenance in areas where no diversion is possible, so only the red track and the combined red/black top section and finish section is open. The XC trails on the hill are open daily also.
