Check Chairlift status AM before travelling for sledging as stronger winds forecast to return!
Monday brought a brief break from the seemingly persistent strong winds of late, with the best of the overhead mid to late afternoon. Alas by dusk the weather was on the turn, with the cloud coming down, drizzle setting in, wind picking up and the freezing level already above the summits.
Not enough snow for lift served skiing, but some optimistic tourers were out on Meall a Bhuiridh on Monday. Mix of decent drifted accumulations in suitable oriented hollows and fence lines, but open terrain scoured clear by the weekend wind - thus nothing of much length joined together for tourers.
Snow piles continue to build at the sledge park by the Plateau Cafe from the snow factory, adding to quite a bit of drifted natural snow. These will not be pushed out till after Christmas given the forecast, to have the best chance of a decent sledge park for Boxing Day onwards despite the very mild Christmas.
Early indications are trending more solidly towards unsettled, but colder conditions towards New Year or into early January. Keep snow dancing!
