A selection of photos from around the Lecht on Saturday, with a huge thanks to Joseph Coane and Allan Bond for firing over the snaps!
All the fenced runs are in great shape with machine groomed / machine packed fresh snow between the fences which are nearly buried at the top of the Grouse and Osprey. But there is also extensive cover between the fences and particularly on the Buzzard side beyond. The Buzzard Poma came on around lunchtime and kept running until the twilight was fading.
SE wind was picking up notably on the Buzzard side late on, snow starting to drift around a bit. There is some uncertainty about how quickly snowfall will move in tonight and how long it will stay snow.
While the Lecht won't see the likely triple digit speeds the Cairngorm Plateau will likely get on Sunday, SE winds can funnel through the Lecht Pass, so at least some wind related uplift issues are likely and depending on just what the freezing level does overnight, drifting snow could be a problem for the road.
Advisable to check updates AM, either on the road or before travelling if close enough. Due to the forecast no further snowsports tickets will be released for Sunday, so if you do not already have a ticket or season pass, don't travel to the Lecht expecting to ski or ride on Sunday.
