A few photos taken from a busy Commando Memorial on a bluebird final day of April this afternoon, showing the late spring snow cover around the Nevis Range and Grey Corries.
Within the ski area the upper Goose still retains a decent width, depth and length of cover along with the summit area. Should be great smooth granular spring snow.
Showers are expected on Saturday and these could develop into thunderstorms ahead of quite a marked temperature drop later Saturday. with temperatures gradually trending down over the early May bank holiday weekend.
Should not be a significant change in cover over the coming days, with snow tending to crunch up overnight despite the warm daytime temperatures. slowing the spring melt. Daytime freezing level possibly back down to or slightly below Munro Level early next week, so keep in mind changing surface conditions.
Around 1100ft of vertical possible on Aonach Mor vs around 800ft on Meall a' Bhuiridh for those interested in using the West Coast access lifts to do some of the leg work for grabbing some spring snow turns.
