Report
Meteorological winter ended under bluebird skies on CairnGorm, alas Sunday will not be so nice, but the worst of the wind and rain showers look likely to hold off till later in the day or into the evening now.
However with the wind starting SSE to Southerly, that can be amplified on CairnGorm, so please check AM updates for the latest on Sunday. Wind may have some impact on the uplift that can run during the course of Sunday.
As the freezing level edges up during the morning, the snowpack should begin to loosen up more generally, so there should be some good spring snow turns to be had. A bit of exploring is likely to be rewarded to find the best surface conditions as the day goes on.
Top to Daylodge riding is possible via several routes, but the best option for returning to the Cas Carpark is via the M2 and Daylodge Poma Run. Fan guns have been running on the thinnest spots on the Carpark Runs to improve this route and the Carpark Tow track has had extensive work to provide surface lift access to the middle Cas tows.
Races due to take place in the Ptarmigan Bowl (parallel to the tow) and on the White Lady, so at times there will be longer queues for the Ptarmigan and M1 Tows, so keep an eye on these as patience might be a virtue, but a bit observation gets you more skiing! :)
Thanks to Allan Bond for today's photos. If you have been on the slopes please email photos to the address in the footer. Thanks.
