At the top about to drop into the Rock Garden, where for a change some rocks would have been useful this afternoon!

Into the Happy Valley narrows where the banks either side give some contrast and definition.

Looking down the Main Basin, no trickery, single angles or zoom! The trick was knowing which was down by this point!

Happy Valley narrows. A few people had an unplanned trip down the Wall this afternoon, having missed the track to the top tows!

Sledge Park is in fantastic shape and being topped up by the snow factory.

Plateau Poma doing its thing as seen from the Rannoch Chair. Top of the Poma Run is in great shape, bottom just hasn't filled in much and is thin / scrapped with some icy patches.

Heading back from Rankins Return to the Rannoch Triple Chairlift. Around 600 skiers up, it felt like 6 at times with both the Rannoch Chair and Button running.

Looking up the Old Mugs Alley Cafe fork past the Glencoe Ski Club Hut from outside the Plateau Cafe.

Rannoch Chair doing its thing meaning no queues. Just occasional wait for the Cliffhanger as the Wall T-bar still needs more snow.

The shallow gully on Old Mugs Alley had really nice snow, but nearer the tow had some scrapped hard patches.

Both Top Tows going so it was straight on.

Some welcome contrast at the top when the snow showers moved in this afternoon.

Rankin's Return seeing quite a lot of action after the cloud came down up top as snow showers moved in during the afternoon. For those who were raging at the sun appearing on the webcams this morning, the shot of the Main Basin this afternoon should offer some consolation!

Snow showers will continue into the evening, picking up in intensity for a few hours after dusk in a moderate Southerly wind. There is then expected to be a lull in the precipitation for a few hours before heavy frontal snow reaches in the early hours of Friday.

With wind touching Gale Force, a period of overnight blizzards expected on the mountain. There is some uncertainty about daytime wind speed, and how quickly the freezing level will rise on Friday. On balance current projections have the summit temperature at -4°c at opening time on Friday, so initially it should be snowing to well below the top of the Access Chair, if not to or close to base.

There could potentially be 4 to 6 inches of fresh by opening time on Friday, with further drifted accumulations on the natural snowfields of the upper mountain drifting in on the South to SSW wind.

Friday is going to be a bit of a gamble, but it looks like the last chance to catch some fresh tracks before the weather turns milder with a more mobile Atlantic driven pattern. It's not a day to sit around and wait to see what the morning brings, the snow level will be lowest at opening time, so that looks like the best time for getting up the Access Chair before the snow level starts to lift!
