Heavy drifting during the snow showers of Thursday and Friday on North winds, meant snow was blowing across the fence lines of the Lecht, and the runs filled sufficiently to get some runs complete to allow the Lecht to open on Saturday, and thus so far anyway to be the only Scottish area to offer snowsports during April!
An indication of the extent of the drifting can be seen from the photo of the A939.
The Eagle, Grouse, Osprey and Snowy Owl runs are complete, though some thin areas exist, conditions are more typical of early season owing to lack of a base.
Being at the North end, the Harrier runs have filled very well, but unfortunately the up-track is scoured clear in places. Hopefully though a base on the run, and indeed on the other runs will pull through a couple of milder days, before cooler weather with further snow showers returns, currently forecast for Tuesday onwards.
