Thanks to Helen Rennie for today's photos from CairnGorm Mountain. Fairly flat light and low cloud higher up the mountain today, so not the best visibility for seeing conditions.
The Top Basin runs are complete, a reasonable width now on the Ciste Fairway and the top runs are pisted with machine packed powder giving good but limited sport with very good surface conditions.
It is hoped to run Coire Cas from the top of the Gunbarrel on Saturday providing the wind is low enough for mid-line loading, and the forecast is looking much better for Saturday on the wind front compared to recent times. The upper Cas has a fairly good base and a reasonable width of cover, and should offer some nice sport on Saturday. Lower down though the Gunbarrel needs a lot more snow to fill.
The Traverse is now complete, but narrow and thin at the top where only a piste basher width track connects the Ptarmigan to the Traverse proper at the M1 Race Track split.
