Early inversion mist quickly burnt off to give a Bluebird start to a busy last day of April at Glencoe. The Sun caused some April snow showers to bubble up, thus it was a real mixed bag in the afternoon - feeling warm when the Sun came out and straight back to winter when the snow came on.
Glencoe saw between 7 and 9 inches of snow since mid-week with a fair bit of drifting, that has transformed the ungroomed stuff with the Spring Run and Flypaper / East Ridge all seeing plenty of action on Saturday.
The Main Basin and Happy Valley are being groomed out to fantastic machine packed powder corduroy motorways in the morning, but you need to be an early bird to catch that particular worm.
The deep gullies that form the majority of mid and upper runs still retain good width and depth of cover, so there's lots of options for more experienced skiers and boarders. However the open terrain is really only suitable for confident intermediates and up.
The Plateau Poma is running for Access to the main area, it is possible though to just about ski/board back to the Top of the Access Chair - though the advised route is down Old Mugs Alley which is in decent shape. From there it's a 4-5min downhill walk on the Plateaa path back to the Chair.
There is still doubt about how quickly the overnight wind will moderate on Sunday, but the GFS and NMM have it easing by or soon after scheduled opening - but check AM just incase.
