Report
A dry and fairly warm weekend at Glencoe (so far as of 5pm - there are some impressive slow moving thunderstorms across the Highlands at present) for the Scottish Downhill Association race weekend. Ben Cathro took the Elite win with a time of 2m 07s on the second run.
Both the Red and Black Downhill Tracks will be open to the public on Bank Holiday Monday. If you are coming up to Nevis Range to watch the UCI World Cup, stop off for a day or two of riding at Glencoe on the way. Campsite with showers on site as well as the Cafe, Chairlift open daily weather permitting.
The 5 Pistes Tour of the Highlands sportive finishes at Glencoe on Monday afternoon, the fastest riders are expected back around lunchtime having set off on Saturday morning for Pitlochry, then Sunday riding from Pitlochry to CairnGorm Mountain over the Cairnwell Pass at Glenshee, then up and over to Cairnshiel, then up again on the A939, then down to Cockbridge, before the brutal climb up to the Lecht. If that wasn't all enough, Saturday finished at the top of the Carpark on CairnGorm!
For those not quite ready to put the winter toys away and will to hike for some turns - people have been up over the weekend with turns had on the Main Basin, Spring Run and Radio Gully on the East Ridge. Main Basin is still complete with good granular Spring Snow.
