The day of the 2005 season thus far, blue sky powder day on the 'Gorm, at least till mid-afternoon, when the weather started closing in. Some more snow on the way....
Basically the photos say it all. Just about every run on the mountain is complete, with the almost sole exception of the Gunbarrel. The wind was picking up late Thursday afternoon, and drifting snow is what the Gunbarrel needs to fill properly.
Excellent sport across the area on the piste terrain, with superb machine packed powder. Off piste, still plenty of powder to be found, and a bit of wind tonight should redistribute it ready for fresh tracks on Friday morning. For the powder hounds, try the East Lady, the Aonach or Corination Wall, for the budding powder hound throw yourself off the Traverse!
People have been doing the Headwall, but beware it avalanches, as does the East and West Wall, thus both Walls and the Ciste Gully are currently closed due to avalanche risk.
Finally thanks to George Paton for today's photos. If you've been out, send your photos to pix@winterhighland.com and help keep this service as up to date as possible.
