Vans Dawn of the Shred III freestyle comp is warming up nicely in the glorious spring sunshine on CairnGorm Mountain this lunchtime.
It is an absolutely beautiful day on the mountain and after the first proper air frost of April at the SSC Hut, the snow firmed up and is now loosening into prefect Spring Snow.
If you are within striking distance of the 'Gorm for an afternoon slide, drop what your doing, get up here, get some final turns in, work on the sun tan and check out the action in Dawn of the Shred III.
Ptarmigan Bowl and Ptarmigan Traverse as well as the Park Area retain good cover. Ciste Bowl is wide at the top though narrows for a bit lower down. Ciste Fairway is full width at the top then about 2-3 machines width low down, with fun to be had of the rollers (safely please!).
If you can't make it up this afternoon get up here or a West Coast mountain Sunday and make the most of the brilliant weekend weather (how often have we been able to say that in 2009) and get some final turns in, remember summer is long enough. That is your public service announcement, now back to the sliding...
